Water                      H20                      Water                     H20

You've always been told to drink more water. Problem is, the message gets repeated so often that many of us overlook its importance.  About two thirds of the human body is water. Some parts of the body contain more water than that. For example, 70% of your skin and 75% of your skeletal muscle is composed of water.  Research has shown that athletes experience a significant drop in performance unless they consume water constantly during an event.  That includes when you are working out as well.  Follow these tips to stay well hydrated and strong:

  • Drink water before you are thirsty, if you wait until you are thirsty its too late
  • Drink 15-20 oz of water before you even begin your workout
  • Drink plenty of fluids while you workout (5-10 oz every 15 minutes)
  • Fully rehydrate yourself after your workout.  Weigh yourself before and immediately after your workout, and drink 1 quart of fluid for every 2 pounds of weight loss.
